Three filters. Cheap first.

A funnel, not a flat ranker. Pass 1 throws out 80% with hard rules — wrong city, wrong comp band, missing a must-have — in milliseconds, for free. Pass 2 layers in keyword nuance an LLM writes for your specific JD. Only the survivors reach Pass 3, where Claude actually reads the resume and reasons about fit. The expensive call never runs on candidates who weren't going to win anyway.
